It wasn't always like this.....

  I could not wait wait to share this post. So 7 years ago I was expecting my first child and even though i was extremely excited i was equally scared and nervous to death. I had done my share of babysitting but knew that it could not compare to actually having your child. 

      When i had my first child I was a complete perfectionist about raising her right and did not understand how to balance life with a child, marriage and motherhood. First decision was to completely ignore me and focus on my family ( very wrong!!! dont do it) because i thought that having a family meant loosing YOU. Two kids down the line my mother, my baby sister , and my sister in-law reminded me to live a little, rest a little, be able to put my own interest ahead sometimes and i thought they were crazy. Then my last daughter turned 1 and I got an " aha moment ". I worked so hard one day and could barely climb the stairs in my house. That was a sign that I needed to have " ME " around if i wanted to be the best mother to my kids. I had to forget everybody else's definition of being a mother and invent what worked for EURYKAH. That same week i quit my full-time job to run my own event planning business. ( that's a blog for another day ). 

   Not everybody will agree with your choices in life, but you have got to do what works for YOU. What works in the best interest of your family and the safety of your loved ones. 

    This worked for me; I take a moment every week for ME, I meditate, I cut off any people who are not there for positive influence, I love a lot, I exercise ( hahahaaa i could not wait to say that) , I dance a lot, I pray alot, I live on purpose, I am working on my anger, I continue to learn from those around me, I smile from within, I LOVE LOVE LOVE love my FAMILY  even more because I am able to find Eury and balance her with mommy, wife, sister and more.  I am determined to make this work. IT WASN'T ALWAYS LIKE THIS.......  but i made the decision with the help of God that nomamipikin will be left behind!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Hair Diaries

 Every Tuesday,Thursday and Saturday morning we  have a very serious crying marathon in my house. My 6 year old doesn't cry anymore but will rather have long braids that hang down to her back (haha her daddy and uncles are not having that) so she whines all morning as i comb and path the hair. My 2 year old usually screams so loud my son begs for earplugs haha.

     Growing up we were not allowed to braid our hair or grow it out until you were well into college. Whats worse is that in my dads house you were not allowed to spend more than 3 minutes on  hair routine or my dad will be taking you to get the hair cut even shorter. I thought it was a rule from hell until i had kids and completely respect the short hair rule. Two things in my morning routine that contribute to me loosing my cool; hair and school clothes for the girls. I  have just figured out the school clothes routine with help from my sister Joy who is a mother of 3 herself, but what is still a challenge is how to complete this hair process without loosing my cool. ( I will have to do a whole other blog on how easy it is to dress up kids who don't wear school uniforms )

Thankful for MOM

 My mother constantly reminds me that you can be a mother and still live a well balanced life that includes trusting God first, having some fun and giving your best at every single thing you decide to do.

  
   My mother is the number one poster child for the "nomamipikinleftbehind" slogan. A mother of 5 who will wear the highest split and tallest " head-tie" in the room. She is blessed with Beauty, brains and a huge heart. She taught me everything i know and i am ever grateful for a woman who will stop at nothing to make sure that she raised a strong dynamic woman who is completely  fearless.

Absolutely THANKFUL (part one)

Happy Thanksgiving :) 

I have so much to be thankful for. God has blessed me with a family that is completely irreplaceable and that is the biggest support i need in this very cold world.

 Family is everything.

    I have had a wonderful year so far. I have been blessed beyond measure. God has been good to me.  I am thankful to God for giving me life lessons. I am thankful that i can be who i want to be without any reservations. I am thankful for financial, emotional, and spiritual freedom. I am more consistent because i know exactly what i want out of life and by Gods grace i am going to make everyday count.

   I am very teary as write this blog. I can barely keep it together as i look at my siblings. These are 4 angels that God let me have and i am absolutely Thankful.

Thankful for a life partner who supports me in everything i choose to do. Falling in love and getting married is the easy part. The real test is being able to stay married, support each others dreams and be a great partner.... 

I am thankful because the papapikin in my life makes sure that this mamipikin is not left behind at all.... 

  My family is irreplaceable.

Less is More - = +++++

      

3 years ago less is More ( I love this picture, hmm I had black hair??? )

     So I woke up today with the desire to clean up my closet, and get my life or personal effects as my mother will call it a little more organized... and BOOM it all came to me, If I only had half of the things in this closet I would have been done 2 hours ago, if i focused less on material things i would be able to do a lot more with my time and money,and whats worse is that some of us women don't want to wear clothes and repeat them!!!  what????
 
 ( This is the part where I insert a picture of all the things I own and was organizing! Hmm You're  right!!!  my husband reads this blog LOL,there are purses, shoes and clothes he has not yet seen my people and i will love to leave it at that hahaaaaaaaa )

 

My effort to wear less make up this morning....

        I also decided that i will wear less makeup, and try as much as possible to reduce the amount of  time it takes me to get ready or get dressed , It will not only reduce the amount of arguments I  have with hubby who is fully dressed when I am still trying to finalize on my outfit ( even though i had picked out the outfit days before),we will be able to make it most events on time. As I look at this  picture, I notice that I look  so much younger, almost like the picture above that i took 3 years ago.

Less is truly more. Lets see if i can walk my talk huh? I will at-least try.

     I will spend less on things that give me a temporary high and save for the finer things that I am beginning to enjoy more in life, things like traveling and investing in building an empire for my kids.

Private time ( Sort of )

I have had one long week! I could not wait for Friday to come around. I mean some weeks seem to be longer than others or is it just me? I had tons and tons of laundry..(yeah i know i am always talking about laundry, if you had 3 kids you will never stop talking about laundry either..haha ).

 So i thought i will share on how i manage to sneak in some private or quiet time with my "papapikin".

     We  have managed to reserve watching at least these 2 shows ( scandal and homeland ) together. He and I cannot watch the show without the other so that creates at least one hour of quite time and a little cuddling no I  lied no cuddling not always atleast haha ...just some private time to at least talk about something other than the kids schoolfees, my increasing shopping skills, and my need for a driver, etc haha. We also watch other shows like " the housewives of Atlanta " and other reality shows that make him appreciate his very normal wife..lol. Anyways some people will complain of conflicting work schedules and i can respect your work schedule but if you are a mamipikin who has a man in her life you better make sure to create time for just you both or else you will loose it! 

Kids are the biggest blessings we have but every now and then we need some well deserved attention and private time to recharge.

I almost forgot to share with you. So my 6 year old takes my phone to send  her dad a text, and she says 

"mommy I cant find daddy's name on your phone " , so  i take the phone and bring up her dad on it, she looks and says" mommy i don't get it why do you call daddy baby are you guys in love or something? " 

hmmmmm i look at her  and say ..we are in love. she says " ok he is your crush right? " 

 i was done at that time.

SARKODIE , Photoshoot and more

    Oh My Goodness I havent slept!!!!! If  you saw and experienced Sarkodie last night you wouldnt be sleeping now either! haha

      Happy sunday to my awesome " mamipikins " well and other fab people of the internet world. I declare that sunday will no longer be just about getting the kids ready for monday, but also a day to reflect on yourself and take a moment to breath in and do something that is for YOU!!!!!!! With that said I am blogging and no one can take that away from me.

    My Saturday was the best Saturday i have had in such a long time. I  had booked a client who cancelled last minute on me, but for those who know me that is never ever and issue with me because I am a WOMAN OF FAVOR! and God turns every disappointment into a blessing. Thanks to Yasmine for keeping me posted on the details of Sarks club hosting.  So I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Sarkodie. ok who is Sarkodie? I know thats what most of my "mamipikins" want to know.

Growing up in a household that my father will not speak any English what else is a girl to do but find it quite exotic that a man will rap and sing in his native tongue?( My Banso people will understand ).I must add that he owns a fabulous clothing line, You all should check it out ( Sark clothing line ) .

You all just laugh and imagine how unchristian I  almost got.

No mamipikinleftbehind !!!!!!!!!!

 This is Edith. Mother of 3 and counting...haha  ( Edith will kill me ) but I say counting because she looks fabulous! When you look this fabulous you are inviting papapikin to start some fumbling business haha. Smile its OK you all know exactly what i am talking about. 

   I had a completely different post to write about Edith but when i looked up on Facebook last night and noticed she had put up a public page announcing her Acting and producing Career i totally had to stop and give her a HUGE shout out. This is a mother of 3 and she is still able to chase and follow her dreams. She is the winner here because regardless of what anyone says or thinks she is able to say that she chased her dreams till the end.

 Nomamipikin will be left behind! No matter how many kids or how old you are its never too late to stop and live that dream thats inside of you. Remember that only a coward worries about public opinion, and Yes we are NO COWARDS!!!!!!!!!!

Toofan, shorts and more ...

    This morning I woke up with atleast 10 blog posts to write but decided to start with the most fun of all.. Well Fun for me that is haha...

   Last Friday I had a 50th birthday party to decorate for and a Toofan show to attend!!! Both on the Same Night. Now if you know me well you know I am not missing  the TOOFAN show! I have never worked so carefully making  sure every single detail was in place because i did not want any body calling me while i was away at the Toofan concert.  Ha! Yes indeed.

  The dilemma of what to wear as a mamipikin is no joke whew!
I have decided that i will be happy about every part of my life and that includes how i look. So i will wear what flaunts these curves, and accentuates my figure. I am no fashion consultant but I can say I nailed this.

  

 Make sure you add " me time " on your to do list.  I always add that every week. It helps me get back to mamipikin mode on Monday.
